The September issue for me was a very good learning process of making an issue of a Vogue magazine, i got to know so much more about the mysterious Anna Wintour whom i have a whole new level of respect, and of course, the beauty of fashion itself. The effort that they put into for the smallest things is incredible.

This version of Coco Chanel for me was a more commercial version. I thought it was good, definitely a good watch - but i personally prefer Coco Avant Chanel cause i thought it's more "real".

Coco Avant Chanel for me was a more depressing, realistic version of the history. I totally prefer this one.

Glamourous would be the perfect word for this movie, Valentino : The Last Emperor. I was never a big fan of Valentino, i don't follow his work or know ANYTHING about him; other than his name. But out of all the movies above that I've watched, i totally fell in love. It was very touching and funny as well but most of it, glamourous. He definitely knows 'what women want'.

recent project : Diwan Album Layout

i recently just completed an Album Layout project for KARTELHITMEN's new tamil hip-hop duo Diwan "Paarthu" (means Watch Out) that launched last week and has gotten awesome reviews from the press.

I went for the launch as well, which was a great new (and confusing) experience for me cause i've never been to such an event plus i couldn't understand a word they were saying. I've never felt more indian in my life! haha :)

But non-the-less, big ups to the Diwan boys, DJ T-Bone and the rest of them that made the album flawless. Don't forget to check out Diwan's "Paarthu" song feat. Joe Flizzow, Sasi The Don, and MC Syze which is my personal favourite.

Jeff Green is a 32 year old American, in Arizona, whose wife passed away. Due to the great pain he suffered after her death, he did something totally out of character for a normal and sane person. He said, " I could no longer take the pain that my wife's death has caused me so I brought her back home." This is where Jeff's story takes a twisted turn. His wife, Lucy, was born with a heart condition that ended her life at the young age of 29.

Lucy's last words to Jeff were, " We will meet again in heaven." These words served of no consolation to Jeff's despair. At the funeral, in an act of desperation, Jeff decided that he would not let Lucy leave him. "I called the cemetery caretaker and explained my feelings."

"I spoke with the authorities and got special permission to take my wife home with me. They thought it strange, but I was allowed to take her with me. I'd rather have her at home than seven feet under ground. Lucy had a great sense of humor and I'm sure she would appreciate being my coffee table." Jeff ordered a special glass casing that eliminates the decomposition of a dead body. "It cost me about $6,000.00, but it was worth it." Some of his friends and relatives, filled with fear, stop visiting Jeff. His true friends respected his decision and continue visiting him. Some even comment that it is a nice piece of furniture.

10 Work Principles By Frank Chimero
10 Principles That Might Make Your Work Better or May Make It Worse

1. Be honest.
Be honest to your audience. An open path of communication is built upon trust. This idea is relevant to every other form of communication, and I think it applies to visual communication. Honesty isn’t just about audience. Be honest to yourself as well. Do the things you’re passionate about. Avoid the things that you hate, if you can.

2. Consistent voice is more important than consistent style.
Voice is about what you say. It’s content. Style is about what you’re wearing. It’s aesthetics. The prior informs the latter, not the other way around. Clothes don’t make the man. They don’t make your work either.

3. Does it have heart?
If it does, make it. If it doesn’t, why spend the time on something that doesn’t have spirit?

4. Have modest expectations.
Spend a lot of time choosing that one thing that a piece of design or an illustration should try to do. Then, work your ass off trying to figure out the absolute best way to do that one thing.

5. Don’t be scared of your tools.
Use them, don’t fear them. For instance, while sketching, I recommend using cheap paper. If the paper’s cheap, you won’t feel bad documenting your bad ideas. Getting the first, awful ideas out of the way is crucial: very rarely does any one hit it out of the park on the first try. If I had a sketchbook filled with nice, expensive paper, I’d feel obligated to make the first idea I sketched brilliant. That pressure would paralyze me. Tools should be enablers, not disablers. If something is more intrusive or intimidating than it is useful, get rid of it. It’s not a tool, it’s a toy. Or worse, a creative boogie man that you’re inviting through your front door.

6. Embrace the subconscious.
In the studio, I have a sofa for naps with a couple pillows. The pillow is kind of comfortable, but mostly not. Just soft enough to relax you. But, just stiff enough to keep you from falling fully asleep. Right before you fall fully asleep, your brain is making all sorts of connections between all of the unrelated thoughts in your brain. There’s no filter from your conscious mind saying “This makes sense. This other idea doesn’t.” Without that filter, you can consider more possibilities. So, grab something to write with, fill your head to the brim with research and what you already know. Then, take an almost-nap and get ready to document the ideas that find you.

7. Edit.
Delete unimportant things. Even if you love them. If it isn’t spectacular, it gets cut. Kill your darlings. Be a cold-blooded killer. Ruthless. Delete. Refine. Improve.

8. Being too comfortable is dangerous.
Most creatures die in their sleep. Keep moving, or get eaten. The only things you should be absolutely comfortable with in your creative process are your tools.

9. There is nothing keeping you from doing the sort of work that you wish.
What do you want? It’s a hard, yet crucial question. We all do creative work to get happy. It’s why we let it beat us up, and it’s why we keep crawling back to it. Figure out precisely what you want, and realize that if no one will pay you to make it, you can still make it for yourself. And you still win, because you’re happy.

10. Execute.
An idea on the page is worth 100x more than an idea in the mind. You can only judge and be judged by work that’s executed. Eventually, we all realize that most of the ideas that look great in our mind look dumb once they’re real. But, at least you now know.

The first installment of many more hip-hop fests to come at Mist Club featuring Malaysia’s very own hip hop acts begins this 30th of August 2009 with DJ Cash Money from Philadelphia, USA headlining the show along with Malaysia’s DJ Face, MC Syze, Aisya & missosixnine together with Singapore’s Sleeq and Richard J.

Grab a flag, put on your party hats and some blings, and head over to Mist Club as we celebrate patriotism and Malaysia’s Independence Day in style! Countdown with the hip hop maestro, DJ Cash Money along with our very own homegrown (as well as our neighbour Singapore’s) finest hip hop acts! Well well, nothing screams patriotism more than supporting our own local music industry!

DJ Cash Money

Philadelphia’s DJ Cash Money has taken the hip-hip world by storm by winning the new music seminar DJ championship in New York, the DMC American Mixing Championship in Los Angeles and the DMC World supremacy DJ Championship in London throughout the late eighties. Since winning all three championships, Cash now judges DJ contests world-wide. His unique mixing style and raw innovation on the turntables brought DJ Cash Money billboard charting singles such as Ugly People Be Quiet, Find an Ugly Woman, and Where’s The Party At? and an international tour of more than 20 countries and over 50 cities in the U.S. By the early nineties cash had joined platinum-selling R&B act PM Dawn, remixed and produced the group’s gold selling single, Ways Of The Wind, on Island Records, and toured over 100 U.S. cities and most of Europe. in 1998, cash was inducted into the DMC –Technics hall of fame.

DJ Face

DJ Face of Malaysia started DJing at the tender age of 16. DJ Face has won himself titles like the Malaysian DMC in ‘96 and ‘97. Face also established his reputation serving residencies at well-known clubs like Baze 2, Boom Boom Room and Orange to name a few. He spanned his DJ career abroad in ‘04 to UK & was also part of the international superclub brand, Godskitchen. Face also started a DJ School called Playaz Universe successfully producing established DJ’s such as T-Bone, Fuzz, Uno, Biggy, Blink, Cza, Goldfish & many others.

MC Syze

The rapper known as MC Syze came onto the hip-hop scene in KL sometime in the late 90’s. It wasn’t soon before long, till he found his true form and identity being a solo rap artist. After a long leave of absence, the infectious hit single ‘Dancin’ dropped and dominated airwaves for the of 2005/2006 and even today the song remains one of Malaysia’s favourite local hip-hop tracks. He then hooked-up with the well-established DJ T-Bone as an MC for a couple of nights a week on the hottest nightspot circuit in KL establishing himself as one of KL’s finest MCs.

Aisya & Yasmeen

Aisya Hasnaa is a fresh faced singer who started singing at the tender age of 13 and. Inspired by Beyonce Knowles, Ashanti, John Legend and others, she was led into the soulful R&B genre. The highlights of her career was having the chance to perform in front of VIPs such as Sultanah of Pahang, Datin Seri Rosmah, Dato Shahrizat, and international celebrities like Dato Shah Rukh Khan and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5. Miss.osixnine or better known as Yasmeen is a 23 year old performer hailing from Subang Jaya. She discovered her love for hip-hop at the age of 11 and formed a group called Catapult at the age of 13 together with sister, Ze!. She has since performed in various venues such as Tower Records KLCC and Berjaya Times Square. Her love for music has driven her to continue studying in School of Audio Engineering in 2004 and is currently learning DJ-ing under the guidance of DJ T-Bone and other DJs from KartelHitmen.

Sleeq

Formed in 2005 by cousins, Ahmad Syarif and Alyph Abdullah at their tender age of 16, Sleeq is out to introduce and push their fresh musical flavor, which blends melodious soulful hooks with polished urban beats. What started out as an adolescent adventure for the pair when they had took part in a local hip‐hop competition in two separate groups, blazed the path for the teenage duo to get together and become the new generation of entertainers in Singapore.

Richard J

Richard J, at the age of 12, started composing his own songs fuelled by his passion for music. He began performing at the age of 15, joining Street Competitions/Battles. In 2005, he joined his first Rap Battle as a soloist. He won the contest, moving on to win another Rap Battle 2 months later. NEW YORK – Twitter has suffered from another attack following one that left the site down for several hours last week.

Tuesday's outage was brief. The online messaging site said in its status blog Tuesday afternoon that it is analyzing its traffic data to determine the nature of the latest attack. No other details were given.

Last Thursday, Twitter was inaccessible for several hours following hacker attacks targeted at a Georgian blogger who uses the site. Fake traffic flooded Twitter, making it inaccessible for millions of legitimate users. While the blogger's accounts on Facebook and LiveJournalwere also hit, only Twitter suffered an extended shutdown.

i saw this on Mischka's blog regarding an event called 'Gathering of the Juggalos', and i was so psyched cause "juggalo" would only mean one thing to me, INSANE CLOWN POSSE. and apparently this is their 10th annual event, so wow i didnt know they were still alive and very kickin'.

My sister's friend introduced us to ICP back in 1999 i think, and we just fell in love with it; somehow. haha. Their lyrics are sick in the head, and not to forget FILLED with cursewords - so much that it would make Eminem look like a faggot. .. i dont think i can even explain it her in words. i just don't know how to explain ICP. had a 2-3 of their CDs, one of em was the limited edition double CDs. What i love about them as well would be their skits in their CD that was hilarious and sick all at the same time. They are AWE-fuckin-SOME.

holiday please?

i am in need of a holiday. If i could really choose ANYWHERE, i think i'd go for Hawaii. I only have a blurry memory of how Hawaii was, but i know it was really nice.

no, i don't want to run away from problems. I really don't have anything to complain that's really that bad going on in my life. I probably need like a holiday from me; am i even making any sense? I was suppose to go to Singapore 2 weeks back, but i realized my passport died. Last week i gave up on an invitation to go to Langkawi (which i've never been to) with some of my friends because i had a shoot yesterday morning and my other friend invited me to go to P.D. with him and his wife but I didnt go cause i need to go to college.

The last time i went on a holiday with friends was in 2004. hm.

Impressive Iron Man & Wolverine Anime Trailers

Marvel, having decided to produce anime adaptations of both Iron Man and Wolverine, has just released some impressive trailers of both.

You can see them below:

Due for Japanese release in 2010 (via Animax), the series look at first glance to have been adeptly handled by esteemed studio Madhouse. Another two anime adaptations are apparently also in the works.

Marvel seem to have moved away from the traditional depictions for these productions; they describe it as “popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture”. Particularly in the case of Wolverine, at first glance it is certainly easy to get the impression that this is actually a Japonified version of the series actually intended for American audiences…

Whether the end result lives up to the trailer remains to be seen, but it certainly looks promising enough at this stage.

It's July, my birthday month, and it's probably my first year that i'm not jumping up & down thinking about it. But of course, the party gotta go on. hehe ;P

now i will never stop regretting not going to MJ's concert.

On a magical night in 1983, Michael Jackson struck a pose on stage, clasping the black fedora on his head with his white sequined glove. His black jacket and silver vest glittered as white socks showed under his high-water black pants. Then he erupted into a flurry of fluid dance moves in a performance of Billie Jean that would catapult the former child singing sensation into full-blown superstardom.

Probably no celebrity has been as revered and reviled over the past 40 years as Jackson, 50, who died Thursday in Los Angeles, according to the Associated Press. The troubled, reclusive star was rushed to UCLA Medical Center by paramedics responding to a call from his home at about 12:30 p.m.

The cause of Jackson's death was not immediately announced, nor were circumstances surrounding it. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics got to his Los Angeles home, Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson had been scheduled next month to begin the first of 50 sold-out concerts at London's O2 Arena, a testament to his enduring popularity with fans around the world, a love affair that reached a peak on that March evening 26 years ago.

The occasion was the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today and Forever television special that celebrated a milestone for the legendary label, but it was also a seminal moment for the King of Pop. A then-record 47 million people watched in awe as Jackson unveiled the moonwalk with an electrifying performance. Other Motown greats performed that night and Jackson himself had reunited with brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy for a walk down memory lane with the Jackson 5.

Jackson is a two-time inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Jackson 5 and solo), a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a 13-time Grammy winner, and has 13 solo No. 1 hits and another four with the Jackson 5. Thriller alone sold more than 27 million copies in the USA.

Whether he was wowing fans as a singing/dancing machine, turning heads with his outlandish wardrobes, or alternately amusing or horrifying everyone with his kooky behavior, Jackson could never, would never be ignored.

The King of Pop was always center stage. And the world was always watching.

i can always - i repeat - ALWAYS depend on the Japanese people to come up with the most unique new ideas. Let me introduce to you, one of the freakiest trend i've seen from them.

Picture the scene: five people, each with hideously distorted heads, tubes sticking into their faces. Reminiscent of a medical experiment gone hideously wrong, you’d be forgiven for thinking they had a gross infection or disease. They look like alien abductees, fresh from invasive research by their interplanetary masters. But these are Japanese club kids, deliberately disfiguring themselves by experimenting with saline inflations.

(the new doll is part of barbie's blonde ambition collection ... celebrating iconic blondes in both fashion and entertainment) even while being pregnant with her fourth child - ms. klum has been quite involved with the whole project and was even on hand recently to help style barbie (pictured below) for her very first photo shoot as ms. klum - i bet she also gave her a couple of tips on how to work the runway!

So finally i came out of the dj closet and came out to play ;)
So this was during my debut at "Soul Candy" Loft Upstairs KL on a Wednesday night. Though I was well aware that i was playing superbly early, before the crowd really fill the place up, my panic attack lasted for an hour at the studio before leaving for Loft. thanks to Cza for actually having a picture of my debut & twittering about it too ;)

This was my second night, the week after at Loft Upstairs as well. My sister came with the SLR, hence the quality of the pictures ;)
